Individual Therapy
I provide individual counseling for adults (18+) throughout Texas using research-supported therapies.
Issues I specialize in include:

Anxiety and fear are part of our mind and body’s natural way to deal with threats. However, sometimes our threat reactions can be so intense and distressing for us that they get in the way of the life we want to live.
I help clients struggling with anxiety to learn to handle anxiety in ways that allow them to live full, rich and meaningful lives. Types of anxiety I help clients with includes:
Social anxiety - Fear of social interaction, or of embarrassing oneself in front of others
Panic attacks - Intense rushes of anxiety and fear often accompanied be a fear or dying or “going crazy”
Generalized anxiety - chronic worrying
Specific Phobias, such as a fear of driving, flying or of heights
For more about how I help clients with anxiety, see the ‘My Approach’ section.

People with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) experience persistent, unwanted thoughts and images (obsessions) and engaged in repetitive behaviors (rituals) to manage their obsessions. This often leads to a vicious cycle where the obsessions and compulsions increase over time, and increasingly get in the way of living the kind of life we would want to live. People with OCD also often have shame about their OCD (“what’s wrong with me? why can’t I just get over this?”), which further compounds their suffering.
I help people navigate OCD using evidence-based approaches to breaking free from OCD. See the ‘My Approach’ section for more information.

Do you often feel not “good enough”? Self-esteem struggles can show up in many ways, including:
Feelings of worthlessness
Comparing to others and feeling “less than”
A harsh “inner critic” that is constantly judging you and putting you down
Jealousy
Perfectionism (trying to do things “perfectly” and never make mistakes)
The good news is that it is possible to develop a new relationship with these kinds of thoughts and feelings, to develop an unconditional sense of self-worth. To learn more about how I help clients do this, check out the ‘My Approach’ section.

I love supporting clients in developing healthy and satisfying relationships, and especially enjoy helping folks learn and develop their communication skills. Challenges I help people with in relationships include:
Conflict with a partner, family, friends, coworkers, or others
Communication issues (difficulty handling conflict, naming and expressing feelings, knowing and communicating needs, etc)
Doubts and indecision about a relationship
Difficulties with dating
Loneliness and feeling misunderstood by or disconnected from others
Problems with boundaries or saying no to others

Men are often not taught key skills in the realms of emotions, relationships, communication, self-care and other areas that are essential for wellbeing. As a man who has had to find ways to learn these crucial skills myself, I enjoy supporting men in getting to know themselves, developing key psychological and interpersonal skills, and developing a healthy identity as a man. I have greatly benefited from working with supportive male therapists in my own therapy journey, and I’d be honored to work with you if you’re looking to work with a man.

Other issues I help clients with in my practice include:
Other Issues related to mood and emotions
Depression (feeling chronically down, hopeless, unmotivated and lacking pleasure and satisfaction in life)
Stress
Anger issues
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Grief and Loss
Loss of a loved one, recently or in the past
Unwanted habits and addictions
Procrastination
Problematic substance use (alcohol, nicotine, vaping, marijuana, and other substances)
Other issues
A general sense of feeling lost, stuck, or aimless in life, or that life lacks meaning
Difficulties with decision-making
How I help
In my practice, I help clients using research-supported mindfulness and compassion-focused therapies within a flexible, client-centered therapy relationship. I often provide practical education about the brain and nervous system, which helps my clients better understand their thoughts and emotions and to take them less personally.
